EGPRN Online Workshop: Patient and Public Involvement in Research

Our next interactive EGPRN online workshop will be on Wednesday 5th November 2025, Patient and Public Involvement in Research.

Patient and public involvement (PPI) in research is about an active partnership between patients and/or members of the public and researchers. We will give you some key tips to help you do this.

By the end of this 60-minute workshop, you will have the skills to be able to:

  • Understand what patient and public involvement (PPI), engagement (PPE) and participation (PPP) are – and the differences between them.
  • Identify where and how PPI can be used in the research cycle.
  • Recognise the benefits of PPI.
  • Be aware of the ways to find patients and members of the public to involve.
  • Understand the way PPI activities can be used to identify and prioritise research.
  • Know some of the evidence on the effectiveness of PPI.
  • Understand some of the challenges in using PPI.

As with all our teaching, this will be an interactive workshop, not a lecture.

There will be no pre-course reading for you to do.

The workshop is free for EGPRN members.

We highly encourage becoming a member as membership comes with many benefits besides free attendance to this workshop.

We would love to see you at the workshop. If you want to join, please click here to register. Please login with your EGPRN account to register.

Workshop tutors: Prof. Ana Luisa Neves and Prof. Michael Harris, UK; Dr. Sara Ares Blanco and Dr. Ileana Gefaell, Spain.
